Brixton Flat

Our Brixton flat refurbishment was a transformative project that reimagined a damp, outdated ground-floor flat, untouched since the 1950s, into a contemporary, functional living space. The property had significant structural issues, including the absence of foundations and floor insulation, making it essential to address these problems as part of the renovation. Our aim was to not only bring the property up to current specifications but also to breathe new life into it, enhancing both its functionality and aesthetic appeal.

Throughout the refurbishment, we explored materiality and texture to create a theme of subtle modernity that ties the flat together. Timber became a key element in the design, used in various innovative ways to introduce warmth and character. We experimented with recessed timber paneling on the ceiling to add depth and texture, and incorporated timber cladding into other areas of the flat to create visual interest and a sense of continuity.

The careful selection of materials, along with a focus on thoughtful detailing, has allowed us to create a space that feels both contemporary and timeless. The use of natural materials, combined with clever design solutions to address the structural challenges, has transformed the flat into a comfortable, stylish home that now meets the needs of modern living while retaining a warm, inviting atmosphere.
